NEET 2026 — questions answered.
What is the NEET UG qualifying cutoff for 2026?
For NEET UG 2026, the qualifying cutoff (50th percentile) for general category is 213 marks. For SC/ST/OBC (40th percentile), qualifying is 177–212. These are the minimum scores needed for any MBBS admission route — government, private, deemed, NRI, or abroad.
When does MCC NEET UG counselling start for 2026?
MCC counselling for 15% AIQ + 100% deemed seats typically starts within 2–3 weeks of the NEET UG result declaration. Registration and choice-filling windows run 4–6 days each. Round 1 → Round 2 → Mop-up → Stray vacancy is the standard 4-round structure.
How is state counselling different from MCC?
MCC (Medical Counselling Committee, Central) handles 15% AIQ seats + all deemed university seats. State DME (Directorate of Medical Education) handles the remaining 85% state quota seats + state private college seats. Both use NEET UG merit but with different eligibility rules per state.
What documents are needed for MBBS counselling?
NEET admit card + scorecard, Class 10 & 12 marksheets + certificates, domicile (for state quota), category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD as applicable), migration certificate, passport, photographs, and — for NRI seats — sponsor documentation. Full checklist at /direct-admission/document-checklist/.
Is NEET UG mandatory for MBBS abroad?
Yes. Since NMC's 2018 notification, NEET UG qualification is mandatory for any Indian citizen pursuing MBBS in any country. You must clear the current-year qualifying cutoff (213 general in 2026) to receive an NMC Eligibility Certificate for foreign admission.
