How MBBS / BDS / AYUSH / BPT admission actually works in 2026
Every medical UG seat in India is filled through one of four counselling routes, all built on a valid NEET-UG 2026 score. Your domicile state, NEET rank, and budget decide which route is right for you. Here is the structure, exactly as MCC, NMC, and the state directorates publish it.
Entrance exam
NEET-UG 2026 (single national entrance for all UG medical courses)
Route 01
All-India Quota (AIQ) — MCC Counselling
- Authority
- Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Government of India
- Seat share
- 15% of seats in all government colleges + 100% of central institutes
- Who
- Any Indian citizen with a qualifying NEET-UG score. No domicile required. EWS/SC/ST/OBC reservations apply per central rules.
- How it works
- MCC runs Round 1 → Round 2 → Round 3 → Stray Vacancy. You register on mcc.nic.in, fill choices, and lock. Allotment is published online and you report to the allotted college.
Route 02
State Counselling — 85% State Quota
- Authority
- State Directorate of Medical Education / state CET cell
- Seat share
- 85% of seats in government colleges + state-quota seats in private colleges
- Who
- Candidates with a valid domicile certificate of that state. Each state runs its own counselling with its own reservation rules.
- How it works
- Register with the state portal (e.g. CET Cell Maharashtra, KEA Karnataka, KNRUHS Telangana). Submit domicile + NEET scorecard. Fill choices in priority. Allotment + reporting.
Route 03
MCC Deemed Counselling — Deemed-to-be Universities
- Authority
- Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Government of India
- Seat share
- All seats across 51 Deemed-to-be Universities (pan-India)
- Who
- Any Indian citizen / OCI / NRI with a qualifying NEET-UG score. No domicile rule — open to all India.
- How it works
- Single MCC portal handles all Deemed universities. Register, fill choices across all Deemed colleges, allotment is rank-based across the whole pool.
Route 04
Management Quota — Private College Direct Admission
- Authority
- Individual college, regulated by state Fee Regulating Authority (FRA)
- Seat share
- Typically 10–15% of seats per private college (varies by state)
- Who
- Candidates who qualified NEET-UG but didn't get a seat via state or MCC counselling. Higher fee tier; FRA-approved.
- How it works
- Apply directly to the college (or through SG). The college verifies NEET score + documents + collects the FRA-approved management-quota fee, and issues an admission letter.
Route 05
NRI Quota — For NRI / OCI / PIO Candidates
- Authority
- Individual college (Deemed or Private), per NMC NRI guidelines
- Seat share
- Up to 15% of seats per college, NRI-only
- Who
- NRIs / OCIs / PIOs with valid sponsor documentation, or candidates with a first-degree relative on overseas residence proof.
- How it works
- Sponsor passport + visa + relationship proof + NRI declaration. Fees are USD-denominated. Application is direct to the college's admission cell.
What SG handles for you
SG handles the entire counselling file end-to-end — eligibility audit, document verification, MCC + state registration, choice filling, allotment co-ordination, payment to the college's official bank account, and reporting-day formalities. No fees ever change hands through us; you pay the college directly.

BAMS admission — your questions answered
It varies by college tier and admission route. Government colleges need higher ranks; Management/NRI quota in private colleges accepts wider score bands. Share your score and we'll map a realistic shortlist.
For NMC/NCISM-regulated medical courses (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BPT) — no. A valid NEET-UG score is mandatory by law. We can guide you on management or NRI quota for lower cut-offs, but the NEET score itself is non-negotiable.
Add ₹1–3 lakh per year to the tuition fees for hostel, mess, exam, caution deposit and miscellaneous charges. We share a complete year-wise outflow estimate before any commitment.
Yes — Management quota is a regulated institutional seat category. Medical colleges are NMC/NCISM-recognised, engineering is AICTE-approved, law is BCI-recognised, and management is AICTE-approved. Fees are FRA / state-authority approved and disclosed upfront.
From counselling to seat lock, expect 4–8 weeks depending on the state and round. For Management / NRI direct routes, the process can complete in 2–3 weeks if documents are in order.
The initial consultation, college shortlisting, and counselling guidance is free. We invoice our admission-management fee only after we successfully secure your seat — and only if you choose end-to-end SG support.
