Every document required for NEET, state, deemed, and NRI quota counselling in 2026 — organised by category, with sourcing notes.
Identity & Age
- Aadhaar card (original + 4 photocopies)
- PAN card or passport (for non-Aadhaar identity)
- Class 10 marksheet (used as age proof)
- Recent passport-size photographs (10 minimum, white background)
- Government-issued ID for parents (Aadhaar + PAN)
Academic
- Class 10 marksheet and passing certificate
- Class 12 marksheet and passing certificate (all subjects, including PCB)
- NEET-UG 2026 scorecard with rank
- NEET-UG 2026 admit card
- Provisional allotment letter (issued post-allotment)
- Migration certificate from Class 12 board
- Transfer certificate from Class 12 school
- Character certificate from Class 12 school
- Bonafide certificate (where applicable)
Category / Reservation
- Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) — issued by competent state authority
- EWS certificate (current financial year) — for EWS applicants
- PwD (Person with Disability) certificate — issued by Medical Board
- Income certificate (where applicable for fee concessions)
- Non-creamy layer certificate (OBC applicants)
State / Domicile
- Domicile certificate of the state where you're claiming state quota
- Birth certificate (sometimes required as supporting domicile evidence)
- School-leaving certificates showing continuous residence (some states)
- Parents' domicile certificates (some states require)
NRI Quota (where applicable)
- Sponsor's passport — original + 2 photocopies (valid passport)
- Sponsor's foreign visa — resident-class only (tourist/visit visas NOT accepted)
- Proof of overseas residence (utility bill, rental, residence permit)
- Notarised sponsorship affidavit / sworn declaration
- Relationship proof — birth certificate, family-tree affidavit
- Sponsor's income proof / 6-month bank statements (some colleges)
- Embassy attestation for documents originating abroad
Medical Fitness
- Medical fitness certificate from a registered MBBS doctor
- Eye-vision certificate (some states require)
- Anti-ragging undertaking (signed by student + parent)

How early should I prepare my documents?
Start at least 8 weeks before counselling opens. Embassy attestation alone takes 2–4 weeks; name-correction affidavits take 1–2 weeks. Late preparation is the most common cause of rejection.
Do I need to physically carry originals to counselling?
Yes for state counselling reporting and college joining. MCC accepts scanned uploads for choice locking but originals are needed at reporting.
What if my name on certificates doesn't match my passport?
You'll need a notarised name-correction affidavit. Get this done before counselling — name mismatches are a major cause of rejection at document verification.
Does category certificate need to be from a specific authority?
Yes. Category (SC/ST/OBC) certificates must be issued by the prescribed government authority of your state. For EWS, the income certificate must be from the current financial year.
